History of Macelifting
Macelifting is the first and most complete mace sport outside of India. It is inspired by the mace swings practiced for generations by the wrestlers of North India and the Kettlebell Lifting from Russia.
The Macelifting was founded on April 4, 2015 in the International Resistance Challenge event created by Stéphane Dauvergne in France. The base of Macelifting was the Kettlebell Marathon. In fact, since the first Macelifting marathon held on May 22, 2013 until the Resistance Challenge, only marathons of 30 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours were practiced.
On February 11, 2015 the name of Macelifting was defined. For this purpose, serious strength sports such as Weightlifting and Powerlifting as well as strength-resistance like Kettlebell Lifting were taken as reference. Athletes who practice it as macelifters were also named. This day was also being devised another test, it was the beginning of Macelifting Biathlon, which would allow this sport to be more complete and accessible to all participants.
15 days after the beginning of Macelifting, on April 19, 2015, the first professional mace was created, weighing 7.5 kg. As the structure of Macelifting was largely inspired by the Kettlebell Lifting, the professional kettlebell was taken as an example and the professional mace was created specifically for this sport discipline.
The professional mace has the perfect measures for this sport. Professional maces from 5 kg to 30 kg have been tested in countless tests by the best macelifters in the world and have made a lot of world records with them. All maces maintain the same dimensions, which allows the macelifters of any country in the world to measure themselves in equal conditions.
France and Spain were always very close by Kettlebell Lifting and since 2015 by Macelifting as well. Stephane was very important for the beginning of Macelifting and Pascal Delente contributed enormously to develop this sport. Pascal was present in the Resistance Challenge and expressed his desire to learn Macelifting. Eventually he would make several World Records, be part of the French Federation of Macelifting and train several French macelifters. Pascal Delente is currently in the professional category.
